Shadow Integration To Supercharge Your Confidence

Introduction

In the journey of life and business, we often encounter individuals who reflect aspects of our own shadow—those hidden, repressed parts of ourselves that we find difficult to acknowledge or accept.

These aspects contain both the lightest and darkest characteristics of your psyche and it can be painful to realize that you may be unwittingly drawing encounters in with people who mirror the exact same facets as those that live unresolved in your own mind.

If you’ve noticed recurring patterns in your interactions with others who embody the most challenging characteristics that a person could display, then that could be a sign that shadow dynamics are at play.

Think of people who are unreliable, judgemental, or controlling during work interactions.  Maybe they do not pay you on time, appreciate the work that you deliver or always want to come out on top during negotiations.

When this happens time and time again, it could be time to explore your own shadow and integrate it to effortlessly change the status quo.

Like Attracts Like

There comes a point in your life when you can no longer ignore the cries from your subconscious mind.

Your mind naturally wants to return to a state of wholeness.  And because you can only know yourself in relation to others, your mind will use the characteristics that reside in other people to show you what needs to be returned back to unity within yourself.

When your shadow remains unacknowledged, it will continue to attract people and situations that mirror the darkest and lightest parts of your psyche, parts that you’ve made an unconscious decision to repress.

Think of it like walking into a play and always encountering the same roles; the villain, the slob, the prince and the pauper.  Each time you grace the stage these same characters greet you, and you read your well-rehearsed lines back accordingly.  The scene is always the same, just played by different actors.

This repression is connected to a deep survival instinct to fit into the crowd and would be born out of societal expectations that were subtly and not so subtly communicated to you from birth to the present day.

For instance, if you were raised in an environment where it was applauded to be polite, reasonable, and fair, you may actively recoil when people present as the opposite of this.

And yet, despite this, you constantly find yourself attracting the sorts of clients who place unreasonable demands on you, are outwardly rude, and do not seek fair terms during negotiations.

Similarly, if you strive to charge fair prices, you might attract clients who are spendthrifts, seeking to get as much as possible for the smallest amount of investment. Going above and beyond is in your nature, and yet they will most likely leave you feeling unappreciated and undervalued when you go this extra mile for them.

And if you are the type that likes to avoid confrontation you may find yourself drawing in controlling individuals who question your expertise and make you doubt your abilities, as their behaviour implies that they know better than you.

It Is Very Trying Trying To Change The External

To combat these patterns, you might attempt to adjust your sales process, tighten your terms and conditions, or rewrite your website copy, hoping that in doing so you start to attract a different type of clientele.

While these changes might bring temporary relief, you may soon find yourself back in the same cycle, encountering similar patterns, just with different faces.

The play must go on…

This realization can lead to feelings of despair and the belief that there’s no way out of this cycle.

I’ve personally experienced this struggle, with shadow exploration uncovering patterns from toxic relationships in childhood that were playing out again and again in both work and social situations. It seemed that the more I tried to distance myself from such people, the more they multiplied in my life.

Turning Inward

What if, instead of exhausting efforts to change external circumstances, you could create a shift within yourself that would naturally repel these challenging characters and naturally draw your ideal clients closer to you?

By integrating your shadow and connecting with a profound inner peace, your true potential will start to shine and you will find this alteration to your circumstances happens quite spontaneously.

The mind will no longer obsess over how you don’t want to be seen, and you will naturally draw in those who align with your innate values.

Completing shadow integration allows you to focus on different characters within the same play, thus changing the storyline, which will lead to a happier outcome.

Through this process, I’ve encountered radical transformations in my own life.

From connecting with healthier individuals leading to more authentic relationships, to a greater awareness of my childhood triggers allowing me to be more compassionate with others, and attracting clients who are open to this deeper transformational work, have all become my reality.

To add to that, the overly positive (and often surprised) feedback from these clients serves as proof that Psychodynamic Coaching is a proven method for radical change and that transformation is not just a one off fluke.

As Above, So Below

In summary, to truly build a thriving business, it’s sensible to integrate your shadow. Failure to do this will mean that your subconscious mind will continue to draw similar individuals towards you until the internal pattern is resolved.

As above, so below.

To get a different outcome requires deep inquiry into the energetic aspects of the situation and a willingness to change this underlying patterning.

Doing this will take you from a stressed out entrepreneur who is trying to please everyone all the time, to showing up with an air of authority and becoming the person who can confidently take charge of your destiny and your business.
